SUCOOL 48 W LED Flood Beam Light
The SUCOOL LED flood beam lights operate on 10–30 V voltage. They are energy efficient, have a long life span and will work great for bowfishing.
The light beam is pure white which is used when bowfishing in clear waters. The casing is high quality and will withstand any weather conditions.
Installing two lights on the side of a small boat will allow the light to penetrate deep enough into the water to ensure a good bowfishing experience.
Features
Eight 48 W LED flood lights compatible with 10–30 V power input.
They shine with pure white color and have an IP67 rate. They can produce 3,120 lm luminosity and have a ten-year guarantee.
What Customers Are Saying
These lights have worked incredibly well on the bowfishing boat. They have held up through many slimy, foggy nights out on the lake.
On a small boat, it is more than enough to simply have two on each side, as they penetrate the water so well.
Seeing fish in 15–20 feet of water is no problem with these lights on calm nights, and they also have a nice flood-effect that lights the surrounding water well enough to see potential hazards.
After running the lights for several hours at a time, they generate little heat, which seems to cut down on the number of flying insects that want to crowd the boat.
The only problem fishermen that had bought this product had is that they seem to drain the battery after a few hours of use. This can be easily fixed by adding another 12 V battery.
Overall, these lights deserve 5/5 for great packaging, functionality, and brightness.
- Comes with 8 flood lights
- Super bright
- IP67 rate
- Only operates with DC power systems

Features the Best Bowfishing Lights Should Have
Warm or Cool Lights?
Before you decide whether to buy a warm or cool bowfishing light, you need to know in what kind of water you are going to fish.
Instead of describing the color of light with the actual color descriptions (e.g. yellow, white), manufacturers of LED lights describe the color of light by determining the color temperature. This temperature, given in kelvins, is specified by the letter “K”.
In bowfishing, the most popular colors are the ones between 5000–6000 K, which are cool bluish-white, and between 2,500–3,000 K, called warm white, due to their slightly amber color.
Murky Waters
If you are planning to fish in murky waters where the visibility is poor due to algae, sediments or other reasons, then you should choose a light with warm white light.
The light a warm white light emits is amber or yellow. In murky conditions, such colors allow the fisherman to see deeper and better than when using a cool light.
The reason for this is that the cool white light reflects off the particles that make the water murky. Thus, the light penetrates less deeply and the visibility is much lower than when using a warm white light.
Clean Waters
If you are planning to fish in clear or semi-clear waters, you need to choose a light that emits cold or cool white light.
In clean water, the number of particles that make the water murky is smaller, which is why cool white light will be able to more easily penetrate into the deeper layers of water.
Therefore, the visibility will be much greater than when using a warm white light.
Waterproof Housing
When fishing, it is crucial that the light housing is waterproof and water-tight.
Many light manufacturers devote a great deal of energy to the proper and optimal functioning of the lights while forgetting the housing.
It is important for the case to withstand contact with water, rain, and heavy rainfall, as such encounters can quickly happen during fishing and consequently damage your lights.
Always make sure that the lights you buy are properly protected against water and other external factors and are marked IP65, IP66 or IP67.
Choosing 12 V DC or 110/120 V AC?
Whether to choose 12 V DC or 110/120 V AC voltage is always a hot topic among anyone who wants to find the best lights for bowfishing boat. Each choice has its advantages as well as its disadvantages.
12 V DC
Most boats come with 12 V batteries, which are ideal for use with LED lights. The LED lights (but not all of them!) can be connected to 12, 24 or 36 V DC.
This kind of system is quite easy to do since you simply connect one or two 12 V batteries in a series circuit to achieve the voltage of 24 or 36 V. With this type of lighting, you do not need an extra generator, which can be very loud during night fishing and consequently turn away the fish.
The disadvantage of this type of lighting is that the batteries are discharged after a certain time. These problems often occur, especially with long night fishing.
The solution to this problem is to also have an on-board generator or an alternator at hand while fishing.
110/120 V AC
You should know that 120 V AC LED lights are much cheaper than 12 V DC LED lights. With 110/120 V AC, you can power other types of lights, not just LEDs.
You can also choose to use HPS bowfishing lights and halogen lights. The advantage of generators that generate this kind of voltage is that, with a few liters of fuel, they can successfully work all night and provide you with the constant light you need.
The main disadvantage of this system, however, is that the lights intended to be tied into the 110/120 V AC system are not made for use in fishing but are lights designed to illuminate the surface.
This means that these lights are not waterproof and the continual impact of the waves and especially the saltwater will damage them. Consequently, the lens will become obscured and gradually destroyed.
In the long run, such a system will incur a lot more work and costs. Moreover, a short circuit in the operation of such a power grid near water may lead to life-threatening situations.
This is why boat manufacturers do not provide 110/120 V AC as a default option. Because of these weaknesses, you really need to think carefully about mounting this type of voltage on your boat.
Which Kind of Light Should You Choose?
There are different types of lights that you can use in bowfishing. LED lights, halogens, and high-pressure sodium lights have various advantages, however, each comes with its own disadvantages. So think carefully about which type of light will come in handy for your fishing.
LED Bowfishing Lights
LED bowfishing lights represent the latest trend, which in many ways outperforms the other two types of lights.
The main advantage of LED lights is that they are lightweight and easy to mount and carry. They can be connected to batteries as they are energy efficient and allow for longer running times.
They are suitable for both large and small boats. Their main advantage is that they can operate at low voltages (12 V DC, 24 V DC, 12/24 V DC) as well as high ones (110/120 V AC).
Moreover, their luminance-to-power ratio (lumen per watt) is excellent and usually amounts to about 100 lumens per watt of power.
The disadvantage of LED lights is that they are also sensitive to rapid temperature fluctuations and external factors, so you must keep them in waterproof frames to ensure protection.
However, when compared to the other two types of lights, it can be concluded that LED lights offer inferior brightness. Consequently, they are outperformed by HPS lights, especially when it comes to fishing in murky waters.
Halogen Bowfishing Lights
The advantage of halogen bowfishing lights is that they are very affordable and can be found in any hardware store. However, they are generally not the best choice for bowfishing.
The disadvantage of halogen lights is that they are available in only one type of color, which is cool white. This makes halogen lights ideal for clean waters, with poorer results in muddy waters.
Another disadvantage is also higher energy consumption, which is why using halogen lights on boats is difficult. You cannot connect them to a battery as they need to be powered by generators, which leads to certain complications. Although these lights are cheaper, we would not recommend using them for bowfishing purposes.
High-Pressure Sodium Bowfishing Lights (HPS)
HPS lights were developed with the intention of using them as street lights. They were never intended for use on boats or in water, as their use in such conditions can be quite dangerous.
HPS lights operate only at high voltages (110 V AC) and are available in different outputs (W). Mostly, the power of lights used is between 250–400 watts, and their luminosity is also strong, reaching between 90–100 lumens per watt.
The downside, however, is that the brightness of these lights drops significantly during the first year of use, reaching between 60–70 lumens per watt. It is therefore advisable to change the bulb in a year to a year and a half.
They produce warm white light, so their use is recommended for bowfishing in murky waters.
Conclusion
The above-mentioned bowfishing lights represent some of the best LED bowfishing lights for sale on the Amazon website. Your choice of light should be based on whether you will be fishing in clear or muddy waters, and consider how many hours you will spend on a boat. Then you decide and choose the type of light that will meet all your requirements.
Moreover, do not forget about the price, as choosing cheap bowfishing lights may cost you more money in the long run than investing a decent amount into a quality light in the first place.
